What is Simethicone for:

This medication is an oral anti-foaming agent, prescribed for flatulence. It works by breaking up gas bubbles, which makes gas easier to eliminate.

How does Simethicone work:

Simethicone prevents formation and eases expulsion of gas.

How should Simethicone be used:

It comes as liquid and tablet to take by mouth, with or without food. The recommended dose is 100-250 mg 3-4 timesday when needed.

What do I do if I miss a dose

Take a missed dose as soon as you think about it. If it is close to the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your normal time. Do not take 2 doses at the same time or extra doses. Many times this drug is taken on an as needed basis.

Seek help if you think there was an overdose or signs of a very bad reaction to the drug. Seek help is a side effect or health problem is not better or you are feeling worse.

This combination medication contains antacid and anti-flatulent, prescribed for indigestion, heartburn, gas, and sour stomach.

How does Magaldrate work:

Antacids lower stomach acid. Simethicone eases the pressure caused by gas.

How should Magaldrate be used:

It comes as a tablet and syrup to take by mouth, with or without food. The recommended dose is 5-10 mL (1-2 teaspoonfuls; 540-1080 mg).

Common side effects of Magaldrate :

Constipation, diarrhea and intestinal pain.

If you have any of these health problems: Appendicitis, colostomy, diverticulitis, ileostomy, or ulcerative colitis.

If you think there was an overdose, call your local poison control center or ER right away. Signs of a very bad reaction to the drug. These include wheezing; chest tightness; fever; itching; bad cough; blue or gray skin color; seizures; or swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat. Very upset stomach or throwing up. Very loose stools (diarrhea). Very hard stools (constipation). Any bruising or bleeding. Any rash. Side effect or health problem is not better or you are feeling worse.
